Accommodation throughout the home is of the highest possible standard with carefully selected furnishings to give a sense of quality and attention to detail.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms available at Thorntoun are of very high quality

Most have en-suite facilities, are spacious, have an attractive outlook and are decorated and furnished to a very high standard.

All rooms are fitted with quality wool carpets and co-ordinating curtains and bedspreads. Included in the room is an advanced nurse call system and a remote controlled colour TV.

Residents are encouraged to bring in personal furnishings provided they comply with health and safety standards.

Any electrical equipment must be checked by a qualified electrician when brought into the home.

Lounges

The home has four lounges all overlooking our gardens and grounds, they are spacious and well furnished and some are equipped with a televisions, D.V.D. and hi-fi.

The main lounge offers spacious accommodation to host many parties and concerts which are extremely popular. Residents are encouraged to suggest their favourite films.

The sun lounge is tastefully furnished and decorated. It has no television and is a quiet area, ideal for reading or entertaining friends. It has patio doors leading onto a large paved patio area equipped with garden furniture with views over our gardens and paddock which is home to our two resident miniature Shetland ponies.

The T.V. lounge has a large screen TV, D.V.D. and SKY, including sports. That has made this lounge a popular place for a film evening or watching football.

The conservatory has panoramic windows onto the gardens and is split level with a separate televisions area.

Dining Rooms

There is one main dining room which is very comfortable and well furnished.

Meals are served in the dining room in two sittings, whichever, is most convenient to each resident. Eating in the dining room is recommended but residents who are unwell and unable to attend the dining room may have their meals in their rooms.

Gardens

The gardens at Thorntoun Estate are landscaped with lawns, trees, shrubs flowerbeds and vegetable plots; residents are actively encouraged to take an interest in its cultivation.

Our sensory garden allows all residents including those less able to enjoy the sights sounds and textures of the garden.

The building is surrounded by a mono-blocked-paved walkway to allow for excellent mobilisation of wheelchairs.
