Thorntoun Estate
Thorntoun Estate is set in 26 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens & grounds.
The extensive woodlands surrounding give the impression of living deep in the countryside although it is only 1/2 mile to the villages of Crosshouse and Springside.
The Estate has a history dating back hundreds of years. Originally called Thornton it was owned by the Findlay family who left the mansion house and estate to the Health Board for use as a Nurse's Home. The estate was sold to Barnardos in the seventies, who named it Thorntoun.
A residential school was built on the site of the former mansion house. The conversion from residential school to care home involved completely redesigning the interior and dramatic changes to the exterior, to provide a superior standard of purpose built accommodation.
Although equipped with every modern comfort, Thorntoun nevertheless retains an air of unhurried tranquillity, a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of family that ensures residents feel relaxed and at home.
